06.10.09 - Coyote Sighting on Laurel Ridge

Postby Lisa Crowder » June 10th, 2009, 1:06 pm

From the Laurel Ridge YahooGroup:
From a concerned neighbor:

This morning aroung 5:45 am on my morning walk, I spoted a coyote on Laurel Ridge crossing the street in front of me. It was at a house where a white cat was sitting in the yard. Please remind folks to keep all pets indoors, especially between dusk and dawn. Could you spread the word to our neighbors in Pine Glen and surrounding subdivisions as well. Thanks.

New message from the Laurel Ridge YahooGroup June 30, 2009:

Was walking my dogs 12:45am Saturday and turned left on Shetland toward Laurel Ridge Elem. when I spotted a coyote crossing the road 100 feet in front of me. Went across the road, saw my dogs barking and ran back into the trees of the house on the southeast corner of Laurel Ridge and Shetland.

This animal had the markings of a coyote and was definitely no dog. Watch your small animals at night. Between the RR tracks, Medlock Park/Old Decatur WW area and the woods between LR Elem. and Shamrock there are plenty of places for them to live.
